The Tree House

This L-shaped addition to a 900 square foot house literally curves around a very old Incense Cedar tree and was hemmed in at every setback and height limitation. On top of that the programming included a Junior ADU plus we had to navigate a driveway easement which cut a large section of typically available real estate out of the usable lot space. The degree of design complexity on this one was an 11 out of 10 and required all of the 20+ years of our design experience to reach a successful design and a stylish building. An additional extra challenge was working with PG&E to relocate the existing meter that was near the house to the front of the property since the existing underground gas service was no longer serviceable.
